Cabinets & Consoles

Patola Collection

Our Accent Cabinets are not only functional storage solutions but also stylish pieces of furniture that can enhance the visual appeal of any room they're placed in. Our consoles are sleek and elegant pieces which can beautify any hallway, entryway, dining or living room.

Inspired by the 'Majjus/Majju' - traditional storage cabinets found in rural western India, particularly Gujarat and Rajasthan, our ‘Patola Collection’ cabinets are a celebration of expert craftsmanship and artistic sense. These traditional cabinets are adorned with mirrors and carvings and were used to store valuables, often featuring hidden storage compartments with clever manual mechanisms. At Svatva, we've revived these marvellous furniture pieces by infusing them with unique designs that showcase Patola motifs and mirrors.

Our cabinets are statement pieces that can enliven any space and bring a touch of traditional charm to modern interiors.

These statement pieces offer ample storage and boast a rich, opulent finish that exudes style and sophistication.

‘3 Phūl’ Majjus (Cabinet)

3 Phul Majus

Introducing the '3 Phūl' Majjus, our interpretation of the vernacular Majjus/Manjush/Majju storage cabinets that were commonly found in homes across western India, specifically in Gujarat and Rajasthan. These cabinets were beautifully crafted and are used to safeguard prized possessions, jewellery, and currency. Our version of the Majjus features intricate hand-carved Patola motifs, including the 'Phūl Chhaḍī' (flower band) on the top panel, the '3 Phūl' (3 flowers) motif on the side shutters,  a 5-flowered pattern on the middle shutter, and a Rosette motif band at the bottom. Additionally, the cabinet is adorned with mirrors and two symbolic 'ghoḍā' (horses) at the top, like a traditional majjus.

The cabinet has three storage shutters and a 'chor khānā' (hidden storage), typical of a Majjus, where valuable items can be stored. This cabinet serves not only as a functional storage cabinet but also as a sculpturesque accent piece with a motley of colours. It is a testament to the unparalleled talent of rural craftsmen who conceptualised and created such magnificent multi-functional furniture.

This vernacular-inspired Majjus cabinet is an exquisite addition to any dining or living room. It effortlessly adds sophistication to your space, making it the perfect centrepiece. Pair it with a mirror or artwork above it, and you'll achieve a subtle yet elegant touch that will leave your guests in awe.
